Dibināta 1962 gadā, GoldenHorse pirmām kārtām ir balvu cermonija veltīta ķīniešu valodā uzņemtiem darbiem. Tātad, tikai kīniešu valodā (Cantonese, Mandarin, Taiwanese) uzņemtās filmas tiek nominētas šai balvai. Balvu pasniegšanas cermonijas notiek decembrī - Taivānā.
