Anotācija: In the setting of 18th century Korea, a privileged son Mongryong falls in love with Chunhyang, the beautiful daughter of a proud former courtesan. Inseparable, the two marry, but keep their marriage secret for fear of reprisal.

Soon, Mongryong is ordered to Seoul to finish his education, and reluctantly leaves his new bride behind, promising that he will send for her. As time passes, a new Governor is appointed to the province that Chunhyang lives in, and pursues her for a relationship. When she refuses his advances, she is thrown in jail and sentenced to death. Her only hope lies is in the continued faith of Mongryong's promise.
