Elizabete (Norah Jones) ir ņujorkiete, kuru, citas sievietes dēļ, pametis viņas draugs...

Skumju pārpilna, viņa ieklīst kādā kafeinīcā, kurā, sava bijušā drauga dzīvokļa atslēgas, nolemj atstāj „pamesto siržu” atslēgu traukā, kas atrodas pie kafeinīcas kases.

Tā viņa iepazīstas ar Džeremiju (Jude Law), kafejnīcas īpašnieku, kurš tajā vakarā sievietei pastāsta par šī trauka rašanās vēsturi un atslēgu stāstiem.
