<b>Stāsts</b>
Pēc mātes nāves, pie kuras vainojams ļaunais robots Count Mecha, jaunais Tetsuro (Masako Nozawa) ir kļuvis par ielu huligānu, kurš ikdienas kaļ atriebības plānus. Viņa kvēlākā vēlme ir iznīcināt Count Mecha, kurš atrodas uz robotu planētas.

Tetsuro dzīvo laikā, kad cilvēkiem ir iespēja ceļot pa Galaktiku un robotu planētā iegādāties sev nemirstīgus metāla ķermeņus.

Tetsuro, lietojot visādus paņēmienus, cenšas iekļūt Galaktikas Ekspresī Nr. 999, kurš ir vienīgais transports, kas pārvadā cilvēkus starp planētām.

Kādu dienu, bēgot no policijas, viņš sastop skaistu meiteni – Maetel (Masako Ikeda), kura pēc izskata atgādina Tetsuro māti. Meitene piekrīt izlīdzēt mazajam censonim un noorganizē tam braucienu ar Galaktikas Ekspresi.

Tā aizsākas Tetsuro piedzīvojumiem bagātais ceļojums...
